![]() So the risks in my eyes stand in their business model, how simple the combat will be, how the multiplayer aspect will be integrated, and of course the story.During the gameplay demo we got a look at the current characters showing up in the game! While a bunch of characters also had their English and Japanese voice actors revealed, in one of the screens we got to see characters like In terms of art direction you can see for yourself with the recent trailers and demo footage, and the illustrations are still from Hideo Minaba. In terms of pure gameplay you can expect something somewhat deeper than a Tales game, GBF is a theorycrafting rabbit hole with really intricate partybuilding and fun bossfights, so even if Re:Link ends up watered down (which it seems to be, at least the partybuilding part) for the sake of accessibility and action-centric gameplay I'm staying optimistic. The one thing I believe you can be worried about is the storytelling, GBF isn't exactly incredible in that sense and is very tropey, although some of the main game's story events (Home Sweet Moon, And You) and the more recent Main Story chapters are actually really dang good so it does have its high points. ![]() I was only referring to it in a purely "so how's the gameplay in your hands?" way: Real time action combat with normal -> special attack strings in a limited area, with team resource management and positioning, everything else you mentioned is very specific to Arise. Origineel geplaatst door Toyosatomimi no Miko:Comparing it to a dumpster fire that's a disgrace to the tales series isn't exactly presenting the game in a good light, you know? Not to even get into how awful and blurry the game looked due to all the post-processing stuff layered on or how the combat was stupid RNG-heavy garbage due to the spiky damage and terrible AI (that would even ignore certain monsters outright and just sit there and get hit to make you waste healing resources), and having important things like HALF YOUR MOVESET locked behind getting through a third of the game. I'm still pissed years later about how awful those characters and story were with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like the (somehow hereditary) nanomachines (just don't question how an advanced society that studies themselves and others thoroughly wouldn't have found out THAT was their magic source by now), character regression, apple-core planets and other astrophysics-defying nonsense around such, complete lack of concern for worldbuilding compared to prior games, removal of the 2D UI stuff and 2D anime art that was a constant for the series, the butt-ugly reworked "skits" lifted from scarlet nexus, half the monster designs being rejects from Scarlet Nexus too, stupidly fast pacing that left no time for side characters to develop (or even the main ones really), random "revenge bad mmmkay" shoved in where it doesn't belong, and tons of other tropey reference-tier inclusions that make the game feel like bad fanfiction you'd see in the bowels of wattpad rather than a full game you paid $60 for.
